Omg Tentacles!

Lol, ya’ll know you can’t resist. ;D Okay! So I’ve just finished reading Yokubou no Shizuku/Droplets of Desire. And yep, it’s a yaoi featuring the ever popular tentacles. Only for a brief moment so don’t count on tons of it. XD To be honest, I don’t really like tentacles, but still!

I don’t even know why I began reading this to be honest. I’m not the type of girl who goes for supernatural manga, I mean really now! XD So I felt the need to review because, duh, it’s tentacles! Yep, that’s going to be my reason now for the rest of this post, tentacles.

Alrighty so you’ve got this perverted/demon school doctor seme, and innocent uke student. You know, the usual in school doctorxstudent relationship stories. I’ll tell you right now, that there is gore in it, although not that graphic, people who don’t like that sort of thing should refrain from reading this. This book contains tentacles, dead bodies, assault, and discrimination. You have been thoroughly warned. c’:

You’ve got the nerdy student Aihara who everybody asks for notes and stuff, and his only friend Sekiguchi, Shinichi. For most of the chapter its just about Aihara’s troubles (which gets more in depth in later chapters). Aihara ends up getting hurt in gym and goes to the doctor, who he see’s doing a [male] student. And then BAM! You’ve got the poor kid who had done the sensei [Kokuyo] yesterday tied up to a tree, dead with blood and weird writing on him. Story continues going on and Aihara and Kokuyo-sensei get together. That consists of ch. 1.  A couple snippets of the story is that Sekiguchi turns out to be a ‘fag’ hater and tries to kill Aihara. He dissapears somewhere later and a werewolf takes his place. The werewolf guy [Shirogane] and Okamoto, Minoru end up getting together by the end of the story. Shirogane replaces Sekiguchi. In case it bothers you, to let you know both Shirogane and Kokuyo have to kill whomever they sleep with as to not let those people tell. Hence all the random dead bodies. In total, there’s about 5-7 people who are killed, but you don’t really see there faces so yeah. That’s basically what happens.

This story also takes part in school. That’s the place where all the main scenes happen. The art hmm. . . what to say about it. The bodies are muscular, but not as muscular as Bara manga! Of course the seme’s have more muscle than the ukes in this manga. Detailed, in a good way. She can draw backgrounds, and you can tell where everything is and happening. The sex scenes are rough I guess you could say [I <3 rough scenes], but they’re quick. Consisting of maybe 3 – 4 pages. The dicks don’t really have much detail to it [if any]. But overall art is a good 8//10.

Everything was pretty good in this manga. Angst wasn’t very high, but it had a pretty nice fighting scene! So blood/gore and fighting was very nice. Everything pretty much seemed like a filler. It has some light-hearted comedy but mostly seriousness and sex.

Sakuraga Mei “Kirai ja nai Kedo”

Yes I know, I haven’t posted in this blog in what a month and a half? And I’m seriously sorry. I’ve started a newer blog in late April about my life. Because a lot of stuff had been happening and I seriously needed an outlet. But now I’m back! I will be adding more excerpts from the manga I’m reviewing and try to clarify more on the stories, without making things too long and boring.

Okay so I have already read Kirai ja nai Kedo or I Don’t Dislike You, maybe a couple months ago, but I recently got pulled back into it with some new scans from Sakuraga Mei’s works. So I decided to go and download the drama CD of it and read it again. And I seriously liked it, and totally forgot the funniness that ensued. Alrighty, time to get down to the nitty-gritty of the story! P.S. I’m sorry if I give away the story, I mean this IS a review. ;D

So Kirai ja nai Kedo starts off with Yukimura, Shuji leaving the student council office and onto the train. Where he’s being harassed by this old guy when Shinonome, Ryuichi comes into the picture to ward off the pervert. Which is where we learn that the not-so-innocent Yuki-chan, as Shinonome calls him, is a past delinquent. Which establishes their friendship. While Yuki changed himself to become a trustworthy VP of the student council Shinonome hasn’t changed. He continues to be a delinquent in the same high school as Yuki. This story is told in Yuki’s point of view, while he’s trying to understand their relationship exactly. Oh, and guess what? Shinonome is Yuki’s next door neighbor. If one of them were to open their windows [which they do often in the story] you could see clearly into the others room. Of course if the curtains are shut, then give up on that idea. So that’s basically what the story’s about, those two getting together with an extra at the very end with Mikado and Towa’s relationship.

This story, such as Miyamoto Kano’s stories has book that intertwine. Nearly every book has a different couple of the characters i

n another book. So you get to repeatedly see these characters again in other books. This book has both a sequel and a prequel, which I won’t be getting into, but I will mention. The sequel is Koi ja nai Kedo and the prequels I Want to be Naughty. Although you don’t have to read the latter to get this manga.

Alright, now that I got that little piece of information out of the way time to get more into the story! So in the first we learn a lot, and in my opinion, is where the action kicks off. With learning about Yuki’s past to learning that Shinonome likes Yuki. In order to get to do naughty things with him Shinonome blackmails Yuki. He uses photo’s from his delinquent past and threatens to show them all around school. Of course Yuki doesn’t want anybody knowing [although he ends up telling the student council somewhat] he asks what Shinonome wants him to do. And the naughtiness ensues. But nothing big happens, Shinonome barely gets Yuki’s pants down before Yuki pushes him away. But Shinonome doesn’t let a fiesty Yuki get in his way! And he then steals a kiss from him. And that basically sets everything into motion.

The rest of the story is about Shinonome trying to get Yuki to admit his feelings to him. With of course, a couple of twists here and there that I won’t spoil. Yuki is a really interesting character. He’s stubborn and very strong. In a certain scene he punches the wall next to Shinonome and it doesn’t even leave a scratch on his hand. In the whole story they do it twice, once was in his bedroom and the other was in the student council room, with Mikado’s help[student council president]. The ending’s really funny, and the extra ending is even more funny. This is a nice, light, sweetheart-ed, funny manga. If you’re looking for something easy to read, and nothing really dramatic, then this is for you!

Okay, a couple of people[not mentioning] said I should maybe talk a bit about the setting, characters, art, story, enjoyment, and then the overall effect. I already talked about the characters a bit so I’m going to leave that out. I’ll combine art/sex scenes and setting together, and enjoyment[which I already mentioned] and overall together.

So in case you guys haven’t figured it out, this story mostly takes part in school. The other parts are in Yuki’s room. So basically the typical high school boys romance. Not much else to say about that. . . The art is fantastic. Detailed, and doesn’t miss out on much. The backgrounds are typical. The sex scenes are fairly good. She isn’t afraid to draw dicks and be lewd. When she does draw chibi’s they’re very cute, and pinchable, and Yuki’s angry expressions are priceless. So I must give the artwork a big fat 10.

Overall it was a good manga. Lighthearted and funny in its own way. Nothing to serious or dramatic. Something you can obviously tell who has what roles, and who gets together. Although it’s a pretty short manga, I think its definitely worth you time. If you do decide to read this manga, definitely read the others in the series. It’s not a must, but you might see this couple pop up here and there. C; And that’s all! I hope you enjoyed this review!

Durarara!!

Okay, this is going to be a somewhat short post, just to get my whole head out of my current fandom. Yes, I know, after my hiatus I come back and it’s with 1) and anime and 2) a shounen at the very least. But it is very good, or else I wouldn’t be writing this, now would I? And yes, I will be following this, when a new episode is subbed.

Okay, to start off this is an novel, manga, and anime. It began as a novel and progressed from that. Of course, the novel is not published in English, which is quite evil, but you can’t get everything you want, now can you? The setting takes place in modern day Ikebukuro, and is much like the actual place.

The characters are laugh out loud hilarious, from the new guy Mikado to the human loving Izaya. Each characters has its own unique personality that will leave you begging to learn much more about the past of each of them as you watch more and more episodes. Each episode is told in a different characters point of view, which is quite refreshing.

As you may have guessed, this is an anime by the creaters of Baccano! Some have said similarities, some have not. I personally have not watched that anime, so I will not be giving you any insight on that. c’: Okay, the soundtrack. It’s subtle, not overbearing and like “Where the fuck did that come from?” and such. It’s wonderful background noise and really helps the mood, especially in serious or fighting scenes.

Ah, and probably the last thing. Art. Yes, the art is pretty good. Not outrageous but definitely not horrible. The art is good enough that you won’t be staring at the characters going “Wahhhh” and stuff. It’s detailed when it needs to, but definitely not detailed on the people on the street. But there not important anyway, but sometimes they gray would throw me off, but then again that’s just me.

I definitely recommend this show. Whether your looking for something funny, supernatural, and has in depth plot. This is the anime for you. Just for some warning, the manga is a bit different from the anime, so if you choose to read both at the same time, you have been warned.

Miyamoto Kano “Vanilla Star”

I just finished reading Vanilla Star, and I must say I enjoy it very much. This manga is very touching, just as a lot of other works by Miyamoto-sensei. It’ll stick to you, and isn’t cliche in the least bit in my opinion. A wonderful sequel to the side character The Man who Wouldn’t Fall in Love.

This manga’s about a guy named Takeshi who, after getting dumped by his boyfriend, mostly stays at home watching porn. At which he falls in love with one of the porn actors named Yuuto. He become somewhat like a stalker, and ends up sleeping with him. Takeshi remains determined to meet up with him again, in the process falling in love with the mysterious Yuuto. Of course Yuuto thinks that it’s nothing but a simple fling. A little later Takeshi finds Yuuto’s old blog and contacts one of his friends, Ken. Takeshi does this in order to figure more about Yuuto, and to maybe help him truly be happy again. He gets Yuuto and Ken to meet up again and talk, although this makes him a bit depressed and worried. A short while after Yuuto goes to Takeshi’s place and Takeshi finally gets to hear about Yuuto’s past. Which inevidently brings them closer. After watching a DVD Ken gave to Yuuto, he finally realizes something. In the end, of course, they end up going out and having Yuuto quit his job as an AV actor. All this happens in the first 5 chapters. In the sixth one, Yuuto gets to meet Shuu-chan, Takeshi’s old boyfriend. It’s told in Yuuto’s point of view, showing just how easily he can become jealous. It’s just a fricken fluffy chapter.

So the art is beyond wonderful. It’s clean and crisp and no overbearing blushing. The backgrounds are okay, and fit the scenery perfectly. The plot is simple and focusing, but has a wonderful delivery. Engages you, makes you laugh, cry, and just want to push somebody off of a bridge.

The characters are somewhat simple, easygoing. Takeshi’s the kind you sometimes go wtf too, but lovable. They all are important to the story, no matter what small role they play such as Shuu-chan and Okamoto. They add to the drama and funny parts. You can tell their emotions easily and not have to worry about deciphering what they’re thinking.

So all in all I found this manga wonderful. It made my day, with a sweet and happy ending. I really do recommend you read this, it definitely won’t be wasting your time! You can read this manga on mangafox, if you wish too. If you want to own it, then you can buy it on the Japanese version of Amazon. Whichever way you choose to read it, I’m sure you’ll love it.

One of my top 10′s. . .

Is Doushitemo Furetakunai! Although I had already read it online, I just loved it so much that I actually went out and bought it! I know it’s a kind of old book but I just felt like I really needed it in my collection. I even bought it in Japanese, although I’m learning the language I don’t know enough to actually read it. ><;; But just having it, owning it, is what matters to me; plus when I do learn enough of the language I’ll read it through. Oh my, I got a bit off topic there, eh? Okay now to start my review.

This is only one book and contains two chapters centered around Onoda. I think the best qualities to this manga is the nearly realistic plot to it. In some cases it might even happen in real life, although it’s highly not likely, it gives you a feeling of hope so to say. So you’ve got a funny section boss and a scarred afraid-to-fall-in-love gay guy who, due to certain events, fall in love. The characters are unique in there own way, and although you may get angry at them some times during the story, are lovable. There is mild angst, since I’ve read far more books with more angst then this. Artwork is FANTASTIC in my opinion. It’s good enough and Yoneda Kou expresses the emotions perfectly on the characters. The sex scenes don’t really show the bottom half, but they still give off strong emotions. Like you can feel what the characters are feeling. All in all this a wonderful first book by Yoneda Kou. 10//10

I just finished. . .

Well, Mankai Darling by has just finished being scanlated by Bliss. And I must say that is kind of ended suddenly for me. Well, I kind of expected it to end that way because of the other chapters, but  maybe it’s just me. This manga seems more like a series of oneshots too me, although they all have the same characters in each chapter. Has hardly any angst, is fricken hilarious, and cute! Then again, it can just be me over exaggerating again. XD

The art style is so-so, not the best but most definitely not the worst. I believe it’s most befitting for this type of bl manga. I would definitely recommend for a light read and not so much angst//drama, with characters with . . . interesting (is that the right word?) personality characters. 8.5//10
Well, this concludes my first manga review, I’m sorry if this does not meet your expectations. ><;; And I’ll also be glad to answer any questions about it. . . Happy valentines day btw! See ya next time!
